As the chairman of the German Commission on Radiological Protection I am very pleased to welcome you to our recently edited online presentation in English.

The Commission on Radiological Protection shall advise the Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation and Nuclear Safety (BMU) on issues involving the protection against dangers of ionising and non-ionising radiation.

The advisory results are published as recommendations or statements.

Founded 35 years ago, the SSK has published to this day more than 300 such recommendations and statements. With this online presentation a detailed catalogue of all results of our consultations is now also accessible in English. Moreover we present a variety of complete translations of our recommendations and statements on various subjects, all in all about 100 texts. You will find one third of the translations now available on this Homepage. We will soon be able to present more texts, which are now being prepared for the English version of our online presentation.

Starting from the year of 2009 we will publish an abstract of each new statement and recommendation, in order to achieve a faster flow of information to the international professional public. We intend to increase publication in English on all supra-regional relevant subjects in full length, to make the results of our consultation accessible to the wider public and to intensify international cooperation.
